MAPP doubles up on central London headquarters

Organic growth driven by new client instructions and demand for ESG and white label flex operation drive expansion as MAPP leases new space in London and Glasgow

MAPP is leasing a further 6,000 sq ft of office space to increase its footprint in its central London headquarters at 180 Great Portland Street by 50% and has taken new offices at Onyx in Bothwell Street, Glasgow

The additional space has been taken to accommodate and further stimulate the company’s continuing growth. MAPP’s ongoing recruitment drive to strengthen the team is in response to a raft of new client mandates in recent months to manage a range of UK-wide portfolios of commercial and mixed-use properties in London and key regional cities.

New instructions include the appointment to manage Gary Neville’s No.1 St Michael’s flagship mixed-use scheme in Manchester and one million sq ft of office space and retail, leisure and residential units in London’s Spitalfields.

In January this year, MAPP celebrated the arrival of its 600th employee...

this marks a 25% increase in staff since the end of 2021. MAPP now manages over 1,000 buildings valued at £25 billion, and has in round terms doubled in size since the start of the pandemic.

As part of the perpetual evolution of the unique MAPP property management offer, last year the company broadened its services with the launch of a new bespoke technical services team to support its rapidly expanding team of ESG experts, whilst also acquiring the specialist flexible workspace operator RE-DEFINED to help clients unlock the latent potential of flexible office space in their buildings and portfolios.

To drive the company’s ambitious growth plans, MAPP has made a number of strategic senior appointments and created new roles including a Head of Building Technology, Head of Building Transition and Head of Facilities Management.

The additional workspace in London, which is expected to be completed and ready for occupation by the end of May, will provide a blend of dedicated desks, flexible workspaces, collaborative work zones, café and lounge areas, training and conference facilities and a media room.

Outside London, MAPP continues to grow its presence in key regional markets including Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, where it is relocating to a new office in the prestigious Onyx building, in the heart of the city.

Nigel Mapp, CEO of MAPP, said:

“The significant investment we are making into our own workspace demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of our people. We are providing a contemporary, collaborative and vibrant environment for our people to enjoy and perform creatively and productively.

It is also testimony to our unwavering conviction of the role of the office in bringing people together and creating a community which embodies the company’s culture and enables people to work to the absolute best of their ability.

I firmly believe that our growth can be attributed to the industry realising the integral role property management has to play in driving retention, loyalty, demand and rental growth. After a long time in the wings, property management has emerged on the centre stage as a vital part of any investor or landlord real estate strategy. That is resulting in a flight to quality.”

Last year Newsweek voted MAPP the 30th ‘Most Loved Place to Work in the UK’ and was the highest-ranked real estate company. MAPP has also formally committed to becoming Net Zero Carbon by 2025, and climate positive from 2030 onwards and is the only Real Estate Consultancy business to be a Certified B Corp.
