Sustainability management
Boosting recycling performance through smarter waste management
OSIM portfolio
The Orchard Street’s portfolio had an average recycling rate of 52%, below its 62% target. Poor on-site waste segregation meant recyclable materials were diverted to general waste streams, increasing incineration levels and limiting sustainability performance.
The MAPP approach
MAPP partnered with a specialist waste broker to implement a revised waste management strategy. This included detailed site audits, introduction of new recycling streams, updated signage, stakeholder training and ongoing communications to reinforce correct waste segregation practices.
The impact
The initiative achieved an 18% uplift, raising the recycling rate to 70% across the portfolio. Continued monitoring, reporting and stakeholder engagement have helped sustain this improved environmental performance.
It was a real privilege to see this project grow from inception, to execution, to delivery. Working collaboratively with the supplier and sites teams identifying problem areas and coming up with practical solutions was a real testament to our one team approach, especially when the resulting increase in recycling rate far exceeded our expectations.
