Delivering a place-based social value strategy

Feldberg Capital

Feldberg Capital wanted to embed a data-led approach to social value across its portfolio, focusing on meaningful action at a hyperlocal level. The objective was to deliver initiatives that responded to genuine community needs while providing measurable outcomes for reporting and long-term impact.

The MAPP approach

MAPP developed tailored Local Needs Analyses (LNAs), combining on-site assessments with detailed demographic and socioeconomic data, including population trends, housing provision, employment and crime statistics. This enabled us to identify three priority areas for each asset and engage directly with local charities and community organisations to understand where support was needed most.

Working collaboratively with these organisations, we developed bespoke social value action plans and delivered initiatives using the assets and facilities available. Every activity was aligned to Feldberg Capital’s social value strategy and tracked against measurable outcomes, supporting annual RESVI reporting.

The impact

Following engagement with 116 organisations, MAPP held 35 introductory meetings with local charities and community groups, creating tailored programmes that responded to the specific needs of each location.

The initiatives included barista training and interview workshops for local young people, the use of client meeting rooms and rooftop space by charity partners, monthly coffee mornings to help tackle loneliness among older residents, the hosting of the Croydon Careers Fair, support for local biodiversity projects through funding and volunteering, and the creation of safe, welcoming spaces for the wider community. Together, these initiatives generated measurable social value while strengthening connections between each asset and its local community.

It has been fantastic to work with Feldberg Capital on their social value strategy, placing genuine community impact at the heart of decision-making - from the local needs analyses designed to identify vulnerable groups, to volunteering at asset events such as the monthly coffee mornings attended by local community.
