MAPP appoints Louise Bonham as its new Chief Executive

MAPP appoints Louise Bonham as new CEO, with Nigel Mapp and David Clein moving to Chairman and Executive Chairman roles respectively.

Nigel Mapp, who founded the business 25 years ago, will take on the role of Chairman and will remain involved full time, overseeing the company’s continuing strategic growth in its core market and the rapidly expanding areas of Flex, Sustainability and Building Consultancy.

David Clein as MAPP’s Executive Chairman will spend more time working with MAPP’s significant and growing client base. Both of them will also remain Trustees of The MAPP Charitable Foundation.

Louise joins MAPP in September with considerable experience in the UK and EMEA Property sector. Louise was previously Co-Head of Cushman & Wakefield’s EMEA Asset Services business and COO of Advisory and Transaction Services EMEA at CBRE. Louise has also worked in the Real Estate teams of Brunswick Group, Deutsche Bank and Deloitte.

Louise is currently a Non-executive Director and Audit Chair Designate of Miton UK MicroCap Trust plc and also has non-executive experience within the property industry. Louise’s appointment is in response to a significant growth both in scale and complexity of the business  in recent years.

In January, the company celebrated the arrival of its 600th employee, marking a 25% increase in headcount since the end of 2021. MAPP now manages over 1,000 buildings valued at £25 billion and has in round terms doubled in size since the start of the pandemic.

The company has also evolved the range of services it offers clients in response to changing occupier requirements, driven by the pandemic and changes in the workplace. It is rolling out its flexible workspace model across the buildings it manages, is launching an Energy business later this year, and its Building Consultancy team continues to see significant growth.

The company continues to lead on sustainability and has formally committed to becoming Net Zero Carbon by 2025 and climate positive from 2030 onwards. MAPP is the only Real Estate Consultancy business to be a Certified B Corp. Last year Newsweek voted MAPP the 30th ‘Most Loved Place to Work in the UK’.

Louise Bonham, said:

“I’m really pleased to join MAPP. The team is renowned across the property industry as best-in-class in terms of what it delivers to clients, its commitment to helping people thrive and to leading the sector in sustainability and innovation.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know Nigel and David over a number of months and this is an exciting opportunity to join a business well-placed to continue its impressive growth trajectory in a changing industry. I believe MAPP offers something truly different to clients and am looking forward to being part of the team.”

Nigel Mapp commenting on Louise’s appointment said:

“The appointment of someone of the calibre of Louise represents a significant milestone for the business in this, our 25th anniversary year.

We are thrilled to have Louise join us to head up the business, as it will allow David and I to focus on clients, accelerate the strategic growth of the company and to lay the foundations for a prosperous and sustainable future for MAPP over the next 25 years.

Neither David nor I are going anywhere, we just recognise that the time has come for us to focus on clients and the continued growth and evolution of the business. This is a natural progression that demonstrates our commitment to being independent and one we are hugely excited about.’’

David Clein, said:

“We are proud to have retained our people-focused, entrepreneurial culture over the last 25 years whilst also never standing still. The appointment of Louise is the latest example of our absolute commitment to leading the sector and having the best people on the MAPP team.”
